The purpose of this lesson is for students to learn how to overcome test anxiety through proper preparation and mindfulness. Students will explore the symptoms of test anxiety, draft a study schedule for an upcoming exam, journal about anxiety before performing, observe the effects of negative vs. positive thinking, replicate the testing environment in a drawing, and test out some mindfulness exercises.

Students will explore the psychology of test anxiety, apply a healthy perspective to a recent failure, plan ahead for a test, create customized test review materials, practice several relaxation exercises, and focus on effort over achievement during a team game.

Students will analyze a picture book, replace negative self-talk, test out mindfulness exercises, practice test-taking strategies, participate in a confidence-boosting game, and model coping strategies in a group skit.

The purpose of this lesson is for students to recognize and evaluate their emotional and physical responses to taking tests, and to learn about proper preparation they can do before a test. Students will also practice anxiety-reducing strategies that can be implemented in testing situations.
